In March 2025, we went to Madison, Wisconsin for a multi-day carbon composite materials class and manufactured drone parts by hand, so that we could develop a real-world (not theoretical) understanding of the challenges of producing safe eVTOL vehicles. Next generation materials are crucial to this industry, to lower weight and thus power consumption, increasing range, but with the highest of safety ratings. It is of note that the newest large passenger planes are being built almost entirely of composites like the ones we were handling.
